The IARC at the end of their research stated that this very common food, found at almost every restaurant, has the ability to increase your risk of having cancer by over 15%.

Someone might ask, “How much of hot dog is too much?” According to the IARC, a little over one hot dog per day is enough to increase the risk of colorectal cancer by 18%. So to be on the safer side, eradicate hot dogs from diet list completely.

2. Beef Jerky

Beef Jerky is also a processed meat and according to the IARC, they can greatly increase your risk for Cancer. The research done by the IARC, carried out over a 20 year period, shows that beef jerky is one of the top cancer-causing foods.

3. Ham

hamHam is a processed meat. But unlike other processed meats, this food has also been linked to high blood pressure and other cardiovascular diseases because of its very high sodium content. Cardiovascular diseases on their own increases your risk of having cancer, stroke and so many other life-threatening illnesses.

4. Corned beef

Corned beef was also one of the examples listed by the IARC as a type of processed meat linked to colorectal cancer. The IARC also went on to explain that “processed meat refers to meat that has been transformed through salting, curing, fermentation, smoking, or other processes, to enhance flavor or improve preservation.”

The way you prepare your meat also determines if it will be cancer-causing or not.
