3 Ways to Become a better Volleyball Player

Volleyball is an exciting, stamina requiring and fast-paced sport.  It requires high level of physical and even mental fitness. To be able to play this sport at your maximum capacity, you will need to train, develop speed and agility and technical volleyball skills. This article identifies three simple but important ways to becoming a better volleyball player.


Way 1. Command your ground. It is Imperative that you’re able to cover as large an area of your court as possible. This is because you’re always moving on the offense and defense.

However, this movements require speed, strength and agility. If you’ve ever watched or played volleyball, you know that you need to jump high to hit offensive balls out of your court into your opponents, and strength to play basically the whole game.


This can be helped by doing plyometric exercises. These involve a lot of bounding and jumping, increasing both strength and vertical leap. Instances of a plyometric exercise would be sprinting, using footwork ladders, bench jump, etc.

It will help you move around and cover the ground you need to.


Way 2. Get tactical. Although it usually seems better to be aggressive and smash every offensive ball across the world into your opponents court, this is not always the best way forward. Sometimes, you need to work more on your tactics.


In a particular instance, your teammate may be in a better position to hit a ball than you, it will be good tactics to play the ball your teammates way.


Way 3. Have focused training. Rather than becoming such an all-rounder with no distinctive quality in the sport, aim to focus your strength and abilities to one part of the sport you can become better at.


Perhaps you may be better at offense than defense, if so, you should try to position yourself more at the offensive position of the team and develop necessary traits to becoming the ultimate best offensive volleyball player.
