Having a sluggish metabolism means that all other activities going on in your body would happen at a slower rate. Anyone in such condition can’t be living a healthy life.

The body needs sufficient water to keep it hydrated. When the body is dehydrated, metabolism may slow down.

Studies have observed that adults who drank up to eight glasses of water daily, burned more calories compared to those who drank less. Take a glass of water before every meal, to keep your body hydrated. To supplement your water intake, you should eat more fruits, as they are also rich in water and help to keep the body hydrated.

Working out helps to burn excess calories. You can take up some resistance exercises for building muscles. Usually, the human body will burn calories, even at rest, but the resting metabolic rate is much higher in people with bigger muscles, and this is why it is encouraged to build muscles for faster metabolism.

If you dislike the idea of building muscles, you can opt for aerobic exercises. They won’t build you big muscles, but will definitely help to speed up metabolism. Do more of walking, jogging, swimming, and so on.
