Alarmingly, even children are at risk of developing heart disease. There are several heart defects children. Listed below are a few of the more common ones:

1. Congenital heart defect

This is a very common type of heart disease; and occurs as a birth defect found in children. A child with a congenital heart defect is born with an abnormally structured heart or enlarged blood vessels. This condition is often caused by infections during pregnancy which is likely to come from a virus called Rubella.

2. Arrhythmias

Arrhythmias is also known as irregular heartbeat. A child with such disease would have his/her heartbeat running too fast or too slow, which eventually affects sufficient blood circulation in the body. It is often associated with fever and exposure to certain infections.

3. Heart murmurs

Heart murmurs are sounds that are heard from the heart or major blood vessels around it, due to a defect in the heart valves. In some cases, such sounds have no effect on the child and with time, they stop but in others, they could lead to more serious heart complications and would require serious medical attention.

4. Pericarditis

This is the inflammation of the sac that surrounds the heart. This condition irritates the heart and causes it to swell. It is usually caused by infection (viral, fungal, parasitic or bacterial), injury to the chest area, auto-immune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, and etc.

5. Rheumatic heart disease

Rheumatic heart disease is a common acquired heart disease in children. It occurs due to a long-term effect of rheumatic fever (a fever caused by inflammation and pain in the joints resulting from an infection caused by streptococcal bacteria). It can cause permanent damage in the heart valves of such children.

6. Atherosclerosis

This occurs due to the buildup of fats in the coronary artery (the artery that supplies blood and oxygen to the heart). Children are fond of taking foods with high cholesterol and sugar, and these can cause significant amounts of damage to their health.

Embedded fats in the coronary artery cause it to become narrow, and thereby, disturb the flow of blood to the heart. This could lead to hypertension or heart failure, if not managed well.

Conclusion

The number of children with heart disease, increases every day and unfortunately, many of these diseases won’t show up symptoms for as long as a decade, by which time they would have become advanced. To protect your child, be sure to have them examined as often as possible.

There are so many misconceptions about heart disease. In magazines, and all over the internet especially. How can one then lower their risk of having this disease when they don’t really know what is true and what isn’t?
Heart disease could be said to be one of the deadliest diseases all over the world and having misconceptions about this disease can be really dangerous for you and your family. This article highlights 6 most common misconceptions about this life-threatening disease that you really need to pay attention to:

1. Only old adults need to worry about the heart’s health

What most people fail to realize is that heart conditions don’t just occur all of a sudden. They build up over the years until they reach a peak. Factors that lead to heart attacks like unhealthy diet, physical inactivity often start at a young age; so it’s important to have in mind that taking care of your heart by regularly working out and eating healthy should actually start as early as possible. Like the popular saying goes, prevention is better than cure.

2. Being diabetic isn’t a heart threat

This is another dangerous misconception about heart disease that really needs to be looked into. Many sites on the internet tell you that if you’re diabetic there’s no need to worry about heart disease. On the contrary, being diabetic makes you 2 to 4 times more likely to have heart disease than people who don’t have diabetes.

About 65 percent of people with diabetes are most likely to die of heart disease or stroke. If you’re diabetic, try to get 30 or more minutes of intense exercise daily, eat healthy foods and make sure you take your medication as directed.

3. If you have a heart disease, then you need to take it easy.

Though it’s important to find out from your doctor how much exercise is good for you, that doesn’t mean that you should now become a couch-potato. You can get a professional trainer to help you out. Research show that heart attack survivors who venture into physically activities and make other heart-healthy decisions (especially on their diet and sleep time) live longer than those who don’t.

4. Heart failure means the heart stops beating

People misunderstand heart failure for cardiac arrest. When the heart suddenly stops beating, that’s called cardiac arrest. When it comes to heart failure, the heart keeps working, but it doesn’t pump blood as well as it should. This can result to shortness of breath and swelling in the lower limbs.

5. If heart disease runs in the family, there’s nothing you can do

It’s true that if your family has a history of heart disease, you’re at a greater risk of having it too. But the assertion that you wont be able to change that is emphatically wrong. You can make certain heart-healthy decisions that will dramatically lower your risk of developing this disease.

Conclusion

It’s important to see your doctor to clear up any doubts you might still be having about this disease. Many misconceptions are out there that can actually further endanger your health.

Heart disease is one of the most life-threatening diseases in the world today. And out of 10 people we see on the streets or at the office, 8 are on a pathway to having a heart disease. This is simply because of the common lifestyle that almost 78% of the world today, choose to live.

A lifestyle that consist of physical inactivity, working late hours (and therefore not getting enough sleep time), eating whatever comes your way without bothering to find out whether it’s healthy for the heart or not, living in a polluted environment are all factors that could lead to the development of heart disease.
This article is meant to create an awareness of the fatal complications heart disease can lead to if left untreated.
Read on to lean more:

1. Heart attack

One of the complications of heart disease that involves the damaging of the heart muscle. This occurs when there’s total blockage in the coronary arteries (a blood vessel that has the sole function of supplying the heart with oxygen-rich blood). This leads to the heart cells dying because they’re being deprived of oxygen. Symptoms of a heart attack might include severe chest pain, that radiates to the left arm and the jaw, and also shortness of breath.

2. Stroke

Stroke happens when there’s shortage of blood supply to any part of the brain. When the heart isn’t functioning properly, blood clots are likely to form in the blood vessels and this can interrupt the blood flow to the brain. Symptoms of stroke might include loss of balance and coordination, numbness in one part of the body, confusion, etc.

3. Pulmonary embolism

Pulmonary embolism is similar to stroke. Just like stroke, pulmonary embolism also occurs when there’s a shortage of blood supply to a part of the body. But this time it’s the lungs and not the brain. Symptoms involves shortness of breath, chest pain while breathing, and bluish skin.

4. Cardiac arrest

Sometimes people mistake heart failure for cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart suddenly stops beating. This condition prevents supply of oxygen and glucose to the rest of the body. Lack of oxygen and glucose to the brain can lead to loss of consciousness which in turn can lead to abnormal breathing. Arrhythmias caused by heart disease is what leads to cardiac arrest. And this can lead to death if not treated immediately.

5. Peripheral artery disease (PAD)

The same narrowing that happens in the coronary arteries, which leads to shortage of oxygenated blood to the heart can also occur in the arteries that carry blood to the arms and legs. This can lead to severe pain in the legs and arms.

Conclusion

The good news is that all these complications can be prevented if you start making healthy lifestyle choices now. Live a healthy life by eating heart healthy foods daily and also working out for at least 40 minutes a day.

Heart disease, also referred to as cardiovascular disease, is a condition that affects the heart. This occurs due to a narrowing of the coronary artery (the artery that supplies blood to the heart). There are several health risks attached to this condition that could either cause it or worsen it in people who already have it.

1. Obesity

Obesity has to do with excess accumulation of fat in the body leading to an increase in the Body Mass Index (BMI) and resulting in obesity. These fats, especially the ones that are stored at the abdominal region, build up in the arteries that supply blood to the heart. This eventually causes disruption in the flow of blood to the heart, resulting in heart disease.

2. Diabetes

Diabetes arises from insulin failure. Insulin regulates blood sugar levels and once insulin failure occurs, blood sugar level gets rise, causing diabetes. Individuals with diabetes have a higher risk of cardiovascular disease as higher levels of insulin will be secreted, which affect the metabolism rate in the body and might eventually slow down the flow of blood to the heart. Excess fats stored in the abdomen also have a role to play in cardiovascular heart disease.

3. High blood pressure

High blood pressure has long recognized as a major risk of a cardiovascular disease. High blood pressure cause great force to be placed on the walls of the coronary artery which could eventually damage it and when this happens, the damaged artery becomes more capable of accumulating cholesterol, fats, platelets and other such.

4. High fats and cholesterol

The accumulation of excess fats and cholesterol in the body builds up in the coronary artery and increases the pressure in blood flow. It is also associated with other heart complications like obesity and diabetes.

5. Old age

As age increases, there is a higher risk of several heart diseases. The heart becomes weak and is unable to respond to changes in blood pressure. There are also other health complications that come with old age and might lead to cardiovascular disease

6. Lack of exercise

Exercise helps to maintain your health all round. It has an effect on your body mass index and allows you to shed excess fats that could accumulate in the blood stream.

Being inactive all day adds to your health risks, some of which eventually leads to heart disease.

7. Smoking

Smoking is one of the leading causes of death in the world today. It destroys the function and structure of the blood vessels that supplies your heart and raises blood pressure. This increases the risk of having a hardened heart (atherosclerosis) that raises the pressure in the flow of blood and results in a heart disease.

Conclusion

Cardiovascular disease is associated with several health complications. If not taken care of, it will lead to a heart failure which would eventually result to death.

With plenty of research and easy obtainable information, we can’t excuse that we didn’t know the risk factors of heart diseases or helpful ways to manage, control or prevent our health fate. The solution is to better adjust your lifestyle choices, this could be both in your diet or exercise to reduce what could lead to life changing heart complications.

Bellow is a list of suggested changes you could make to help you accommodate to a healthier lifestyle :

How can my diet and absence of exercise cause heart problems?

Certainly a lack of exercise and healthy foods can edge to bigger problems such as obesity. Your heart needs all the right ingredients so that it can continue performing properly. The wrong foods and your weight can play a major part in damaging your vascular system as well as your heart. Along side obesity comes laziness or a disability to exercise regularly, it is critical to have an active lifestyle, exercising at least 4 days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes. Depriving your body from cardiovascular exercise can be seriously damaging to more organs than just your heart, it can lead to high blood sugars and soaring cholesterol problems.

Exercise regularly – If you cannot exercise everyday for a minimum of half hour then at least find time 3 to 4 days a week.

Cardiovascular exercise – Run, jog, cycle or swim etc.

Diet – Ensure you’re giving your body the right vitamins, nutrients and proteins daily. Remember that portion size can be a huge part of the problem too.

Additional Problems

In case you’ve missed the endless adverts on the TV and billboards, the number one catastrophic move you can make is to smoke daily. There is no other perspective you can take other than admitting that by smoking daily you are accepting defeat and practically digging your own grave, speeding up the process of aging skin way before your time. If you were to suffer from some sort of heart related issue such as cancer or lung disease at 70 you’ve now pushed that right down to an earlier age.

Learn how to Manage or Control Heart Related Concerns

Blood pressure : A very common issue with many adults, high blood pressure unrecognized or untreated can lead to strokes and heart attacks. Ensure you make regular appointments with your entrusted doctor or nurse.

Cholesterol : The source of major cardiac risks. Managing your cholesterol is done by a healthier diet, prescribed medication and exercise.

Blood Sugar : Another common concern is diabetes, high blood sugars boost the risk of heart diseases.

In fact, the second we’re born every day of every second we are no longer new and our fate of aging creeps nearer. The phenomenal fantasy of the fountain of youth could have fooled me at one point, to go and hopelessly search for it but I’ve come to realize it just doesn’t exist. Although we can’t stop aging there is definitely ways you can be more in control, like choosing a healthier lifestyle with plenty of nutrient diets and a lot more exercise.

It’s time to face your fears, one of the most important changes you should be making to your new and healthier lifestyle is filling your plate with as much fruit and vegetable as possible.

What you need:

Whole grains

Fruits

Vegetables

Whole grains

Why are is this diet good for me?

The benefits of these ingredients is the compounds inside help defend against you against the conditions that you will face the older you get.

What problems will come with aging?

High blood pressurre

Heart disease

Blindness and deafness

Arthritis

Diabetes

Osteoporosis

Exercising Regularly

Once we hit a certain age, we all know how difficult burning calories becomes, eventually we even lose muscle. Try and fit in at least half an hour of exercise 3 times a week, it doesn’t have to be anything of high intensity but you do need to get your heart pumping. You must work off any extra pounds you might be carrying around with you to ensure you limit any chances of growth in high blood pressure, heart disease and even in some cases cancer.

However, if you’re someone who hasn’t exercised in a while it doesn’t matter. As long as you decide to start and stay consistent it will help prevent so many problems one of such being diabetes whilst at the same time helping you burn tones of calories, keeps you busy and away from stress. No matter the age, the more we exercise throughout the day the more peaceful our sleep will be at night.

The Importance of Vitamins.

Vitamin D – Egg yolks, milk and fish

Calcium – Orange juice, fish, low fat dairy / vegetables, broccoli

Vitamin B12 – supplements and also cereal

Important.

Some amount of alcohol helps safeguard you from heart disease however too much can harm the effectiveness of the medication you take.

You’re likely eating sugar throughout the day without even realizing it. Sugar is added to foods that don’t even taste all that sweet, like breads, condiments, and sauces. A high-sugar diet boosts your odds of tooth decay, heart disease, and diabetes, not to mention weight gain. We hope our guide will help you say no to sugar intake with these 10 simple tips.

1. Carefully Read Food Labels

You’ll quickly realize just how often sugar is added to foods when you look for it on ingredients lists. Even things that you don’t think are sweet, like tomato sauce, crackers, condiments, and salad dressings can be packed with sugar. Ingredients are listed in order of how much exists in the product, so if sugar’s near the top, that’s a red flag.

2. Learn Sugar’s Aliases

When you read food labels, you’ll need to look for more than just the word “sugar.” Sugar hides under several sneaky names, including high fructose corn syrup, dried cane syrup, invert sugar, molasses, sucrose, brown rice syrup, honey, and maple syrup. These can be listed separately on ingredients lists, so many foods, even seemingly healthy ones like yogurt and cereal, may contain three or four different types of sweetener. If several sugars appear on the label, it’s an indication that the food is less healthy than you may think.

3. Buy Unsweetened

So by now you’ve learned where sugar hides, well let’s start making changes to our diet. One strategy is to buy foods labeled “no added sugar” or “unsweetened.” You’ll find unsweetened versions of these common foods in most grocery stories: non-dairy milk like almond and soy, nut butters, applesauce, oatmeal, and canned fruit.

4. Don’t Stop Eating Sugar Altogether

Similarly known as going cold turkey on sugar isn’t really realistic for most people. Essentially cutting back slowly would in long term effects be more successful. If you normally put two packets of sugar in your coffee, for instance, try one for a week, then half, and finally add only a splash of milk. For your yogurt, mix half a serving of sweetened yogurt with half a serving of plain, and eventually move on to adding natural sweetness with fresh fruit.

5. Protein & Fat

Unhealthy carbs loaded with sugar can cause blood sugar to rise rapidly. To minimize this rapid rise and fall, pair protein, healthy fats, and fiber with your meal, all of which can slow down the release of blood sugar in your body and keep you full for longer. Fats are a key player because they help keep you fuller for longer, therefore helping to decrease your desire for sugar. Focus on fats like avocados, nuts, seeds, and heart-healthy oils like olive oil, walnut oil, and coconut oil.

6. Be Honest

When you’re reducing your sugar intake, you may be tempted to switch to artificial sugars for your sweet fix. But resist reaching for the diet soda, sugar-free candy, and packets of fake sugar in your latte. When you eat something sweet, your body expects calories and nutrition, but artificial sugars don’t give your body those things. That may be why fake sugars are associated with weight gain and not actually weight loss.

7. Up The Flavor

When you’re out remember to order an unsweetened latte and add flavor with cocoa or vanilla powder instead of throwing in cubes of sugar. Skip the flavored oatmeal and add a sweet kick with cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.

8. Don’t Drink It

Avoiding soda is a good idea, but that’s not the only sugar packed drink around. Even drinks that are considered healthy can contain more of the sweet stuff than you’re supposed to have in an entire day.

9. Enjoy A Dessert Now & Again

You can still indulge in an occasional sweet treat after you resolve to slash sugar. The idea is to avoid wasting your daily sugar quota on non-dessert foods like cereals, ketchup, and bread. To avoid overdoing it, set specific rules about when you may enjoy dessert: only after dinner on the weekends or at restaurants as a special treat.

10.Stick With It!

At first, cutting down on sugar can feel like an impossible task. Eventually, though, your taste buds will adjust. Super-sweet foods like ice cream and candy will start to taste too sweet. When you could have a whole slice of cake before, now a couple bites will be enough. You’ll notice the natural sweetness in fruits and vegetables and eventually they’ll taste better too.

Evidently we all know the body does indeed clean itself naturally, however, it can only do this when given the chance to do so. Yes many people, particularly in the medical world, often dismiss the notion that we ever need to detox with the reasoning that the body detoxes all the time naturally, regardless of what we do.

Although this is very true, the best way to describe the situation is that if you always pollute the environment in which your cells bathe, then there will constantly be a degree of toxicity in our systems. Therefore, it is worthwhile to give your organs and digestive system an adequate recommended rest from the burden of all the processed foods we consume.

Tips: Keep Detox Simple, because all you really need is a juicer/blender, a flask, the appropriate fruit and veggies of your choice and, of course, the right attitude!

Prevent chronic disease.

Environmental toxins are responsible for many cancers, neurological diseases, heart disease and strokes. Our bodies do have a built-in detox function to deal with these dangers, but those systems are constantly overloaded! Detoxing assists and improves what our bodies are trying to do naturally.

Remove toxins from the body.

Long-term exposure to toxins (environmental pollutants, cancer-causing chemicals, preservatives, pesticides, heavy metals, and industrial waste) affects our metabolism, behavior, immune system, and leads to disease. They are stored in tissues and cells throughout the body, including the brain, often for years.

Lose weight.

I’m sure you were all waiting for this one, toxins affect the body’s natural ability to burn fat, leading to weight gain. Diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure are directly linked to weight issues. Detoxing rids the body of toxins stored in fat cells and increases metabolism.

Enhance immune system function.

A compromised immune system makes us vulnerable to colds and flus, affecting our quality of life and productivity. Regular detoxing helps strengthen immune system functioning and fights off infection.

Increasing energy.

Making you mentally, physically, and emotionally more energized after detoxing. People tend to sleep better and need less of it.

Slow premature aging.

Detoxing rids the body of free radicals and heavy metals partially responsible for aging. Detoxing helps to increase nutrient absorption, including antioxidants and vitamins that help fight oxidative stress.

Improve quality of life.

Very simply our bodies don’t function very well when they’re loaded with toxins. We may have joint pain, headaches, digestive disorders, sleep problems, and lack of energy.

Mental and emotional clarity.

When the body’s systems are aligned, a shift also occurs with our mental and emotional states. We can deal with more when we’re clear and grounded. We can make better decisions, analyze accurately, and see things differently.

Improve skin quality.

Diet and environmental toxins undeniably affect skin. Detoxing improves acne, and strengthens hair and nails, and gives us a natural, healthy glow.

Restore balance to our body’s systems.

Our digestive, nervous, and hormonal systems were designed to work together to achieve optimum health. When we overload them with toxins and unhealthy foods, these systems don’t work as well as they should and we get sick.
